Haberdashery recently had the opportunity to collaborate with ABC's hit show Extreme Makeover Home Edition to design and make some great interior accessories for the Simpson family's brand new home in our own Savannah, GA. Designer Lane Huerta of Love Lane Designs and I, Ashley Newsome (she who is Haberdashery), collaborated with the designers on the show to create custom pillows and duvet covers for two of the three Simpson childrens' bedrooms.
A little background on the family:
Carmen and Jim Simpson give back to their Savannah community at every turn as they raise three children, Zoë, Katelyn and Isaac. Zoë, the youngest, is their “miracle baby,” having beaten the odds after being born with a life-threatening disease.
Each bedroom was specially designed with the child's needs and interests in mind. Zoë's pop-art inspired room was very tactile: we used vinyl, fuzzy fabrics and bold colors and prints to add to the Lichtenstein-like feel. In Isaac's room we added fresh touches of color with lime green coordinates that fit right into his Shaun White designed skater-friendly bedroom. But that is all we can tell you for now.... You will just have to watch and see the rest on the show airing this Sunday, January 16th, 2011 at 8 PM on ABC.
And yes, that really is Ty Pennington.
