DIY: Pillow Talk

We're thick in the dog days of summer. You might need a little creative inspiration to help get you through the long, hot days and the steamy nights. How about a little DIY project, compliments of Haberdashery (with a little help from our friends at ReadyMade)?!

Let's start with the everyday worn pillowcase. Green alternatives to disposal would include donating it to Goodwill, cutting it up for rags or... get on board the DIY style train with the following fashionable projects. So simple even beginners can do it.

INSTRUCTIONS: Pillowcase Pencil Skirt

Requires one pillowcase, webbing and the basic sewing supplies. In less than an hour you'll have a hip new skirt to sport to your next mid-summer barbecue.

Like the Pencil Skirt, this project also requires a pillowcase, webbing and the basic sewing supplies. Factor in more time for your apron. After all, any chef knows that the best meals take time.

INSTRUCTIONS: Pillowcase Tank Top

Requires a pillowcase, tank top and scissors. No sewing machine necessary! Give yourself a good half a day for this project.

For the DIY-challenged, Haberdashery offers sewing classes at $30 per hour, all materials included. Email info@habsav.com for more information. Need any buttons, zippers, or decorative trim? Please visit Haberdashery on Etsy for all your accessorizing needs!
